Settings and controls
Short answer
The Marshall JMP Synergy Preamp Module has two channels, each with its own Volume 1, Volume 2, and Master controls. Both channels include Bass, Middle and Treble EQ, plus Bright and Era switches.
Channels
The JMP Synergy Preamp Module has two channels, each with its own Volume 1, Volume 2, and Master controls.
Both channels also include Bass, Middle and Treble EQ, plus Bright and Era switches. You can set up both channels for different variations of your tone, or keep one for rhythm and the other for leads.
Each channel also has its own Master volume, so you can shape the overall balance without losing character.
Volume 1 and Volume 2
Use Volume 1 and Volume 2 to balance your sound:
Volume 1 controls the bright input — it’s sharper and cuts through.
Volume 2 controls the normal input — it’s warmer and darker.
Together, they work much like jumping the inputs on the original amp. This lets you blend and balance the two for a wide range of sounds.
Era switches
These switches let you choose the sound of classic JMP amps:
60s mode delivers a warm, smooth, rounded tone.
70s mode provides a tighter, more aggressive response.
Bright switches
The four bright switches allow you to adjust the bright cap on each volume control. This changes how much high‑end (treble) frequencies passes through the volume control, making your sound brighter and more aggressive.
Try blending bright Volume 1 with the warmer Volume 2 for the perfect mix of attack and thickness.
Cathode select switch
The cathode select switch allows you to configure the input tube bass response. These settings affect the feel and tightness. The switch has three positions:
Position 1 – 1.5 kΩ resistor and 22 µF capacitor
Position 2 – 2.7 kΩ resistor and 0.68 µF capacitor
Position 3 – 1.8 kΩ resistor and 1 µF capacitor
The JMP Synergy Preamp Module is preset to position 1 (1.5 kΩ resistor and 22 µF capacitor), but you can experiment to see which setting matches your style.
